The Betel Leaf, or Magai Paan is a creeper with glossy heart-shaped leaves that are popularly consumed in India. It is fairly easy to grow even for new plant parents with a little care. Let it climb or trail and it will be a great addition to both your collection and food habit as it is known to cool the body and provides many nutrients.

Plant Essentials
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant:Feed the Betel Leaf plants every 2 months with organic-rich fertiliser. Repotting : Repot the beetle leaf only if the plant is out of any space to grow. Even then, don’t choose a very large pot to replant because that could damage the plant. Propogation : Betel Leaf plants can be propagated via stem cuttings. Choose a stem that is longer than 18 cm for propagation.
Common Problems
1. Why are the leaves of my Betel Leaf plant turning yellow and falling off? If the place where they are planted is very hot and dry, the Betel Leaf plants will begin to die and the first indication of that is the leaves turning yellow and falling. 2. Why are the leaves of my Betel Leaf plant turning brown? Brown and patchy leaves in Betel Leaf plant are often an indication of the watering habits. It can be caused by overwatering or under-watering. 3. Why are the leaves of my Betel Leaf plant getting black and oily spots on them? Black and oily patches on the Betel Leaf are caused because of the Leaf Blight Disease which is a fungal disease. The best way to save the plant is to pull out the leaves that show the signs of the disease to stop the disease from spreading
Style and Decor
Light Requirements :Betel leaf plants require partial shade and humidity. Locations :Balconies or windowsills where there is shade for your betel leaf plant are the best locations. Styling/decor tip :Add a modular hexagonal wall hanging for the Betel Leaf plant to grow on, thus creating a beautiful pattern with the plant while keeping it from climbing directly on your interior walls. Let the plant climb on a moss stick to add height to your space. The beetle leaf looks great in corners or on trellises.
