About the Earth Star Plant

A member of the bromeliad family, nativve to Brazil, the earth star brown is a short plant with tapering flat leaves arranged in rosettes. This low growing stunner boast of wavy leaves with a striped variegation. An excellent choice for table tops and shelves.

Fertilizer/ feed for the plant:The earth star plant does not require a regular feed. Use a well-balanced fertiliser once a month during its active growing season.
Repotting : It’s a slow grower and does not require frequent repotting. Repot it once in two years in a fresh growing medium or when it outgrows the current pot.
Propogation : Earth star propagates by pups, plant the pups in a new planter once they reach one third the sice of the original plant.

1. What is the white cottony growth on my plant?
The earth star plant is susceptible to mealy bugs that appear as cottony growth on leaf surfaces and crevices. In case of an infestation clean the plant of visible bugs and spray with a pesticide to prevent further growth.
2. Why are the leaves turning lighter?
Too much light, especially direct sunlight causes the bleaching of leaves.
3. Why is my plant growing limp?
Although the earth star loves humidity, too much water causes root rot. Let your plant soil grow dry between waterings and drench completely when watering.
