About the Ixora (Rugmini) Variegated Plant

Also known as Jungle Geraniums, Ixoras are small tropical shrubs that will reward you with beautiful clusters of flowers with very little care. The flowers with pink and white shades are not the only stunning aspect of the plant, the leaves have beautiful variegations too. Perfect for balcony gardens, these hardy plants need full sun and very little space to grow. The flowers are a tight ball-like cluster of tiny blooms that attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees with their fragrance.

Repotting : Ixora is an easy-going plant and it is sufficient to repot them only when they outgrow their current pot. Prune regularly and use a well-draining potting soil.
Propogation : Propagation of Ixora can be done via stem cuttings. Take a 4 to 5 inch long cutting and remove the lowermost leaves, dip the cut edge in rooting hormone and root in water for 3-4 weeks.

Ixoras a re tropical plants and susceptible to cold drafts. The plant will drop leaves of they are in an area with cold draft. Place the plant in a warmer area out of the draft.

Ixoras are prone to black sooty mould fungus if they don’t get a good airflow. Clean your plant under water pressure and spray with neem oil. Then place it in a well-ventilated space with full sun.
3. Why does my plant have very few blooms?
Fertilise your plants more regularly, once every two weeks from spring to fall and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Also, prune your plants to promote branching and induce flowering heads.
