All the plant gossip, through the grapevine. Pun intended
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant:The Dragon scale plant doesn’t require feeding very often. Feed it once in a month or two with a generic houseplant fertiliser, especially in its growing months of summer. Water rarely and mist regularly, the plant needs high humidity.
Repotting : An almost epiphyte and succulent variety, it will appreciate not being fiddled with. Repot it when you can see roots coming out of the drainage holes or a slower growth rate. Repot delicately in an extremely well-draining potting mix with chunky wood/bark chips.
Propogation : During the summer months, you can take a cutting from your dragon jade plant to propagate. Ensure that the cutting has at least two nodes and plant in a pot with a plastic cover or put cling film over the top. This will help provide your cutting with the required heat and humidity to grow.
1. Why is my plant shedding leaves?
Plants shed leaves when they are under stress. Check for root rot or light issues. If your plant is in shade, shift it to a brighter spot or vice versa and water correctly.
2. Why is my plant turning black?
Plants turning black is a sign of root rot. The dragon plant is an epiphytic plant that absorbs most of its moisture from the air around it. While it needs exceptional amount of humidity, it doesn't like being watered frequently.
3. Why are the leaves of My dragon plant shrivelling up?
The leaves of any succulent shrivel up due to lack of moisture. So it’s a clear indication of either under watering or low humidity. Water your plant once the soil is completely dry and mist regularly.
Light Requirements :The Dragon Bubble plant needs bright indirect to partial sun. An east or north facing window or balcony are an ideal choice. It can also be kept a few feet away from a south-facing window for bright light through the day.
Locations :The best location for the Dischidia nummularia is where it gets bright indirect light through the day or morning sunlight. East and North facing windows are a great option.
Styling/decor tip :The Dragon Jade plant is a rare and interesting succulent-epiphyte-air plant hybrid that climbs with small roots on tree barks or moss poles. Plant them in floor or tabletop planters with moss poles or plant them in hanging planters and let them trail down in beautiful curves. Give them a bright spot for stunning foliage growth with fleshy leaves that resemble dragon scales. Contrast the emerald green colour with lighter monochrome planters for an interesting visual.
